What's Happening with the Richmond .NET Code Camp?
It's official, the next .NET Code Camp in Richmond, Virginia will be held on October 4th at the new Technology Center on the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Parham Road Campus (map). We'll have an ultra-modern auditorium, state-of-the art classrooms, free WiFi networking on a comfortable suburban college campus with plenty of free parking. - Tuesday, August 12, 2008 - Al Tenhundfeld, a Senior Consultant for Dominion Digital and a friend to many in Richmond will be presenting to us concerning patterns and tools that make development life easier and better.
- Monday, August 11, 2008 - John Baird, Device Application Development MVP will be joining us to talk about .NET Compact Framework Development. Steve Presley has also submitted several mobile application development proposals. Looks like our Mobile Applications track is going to be superb this time around.
- Saturday, August 9, 2008 - I talked with Amanda Laucher at CodeStock in Knoxville. She committed to coming to speak at the Richmond Code Camp. She's got one small detail to handle to make it a sure thing but she's pretty confident that she can be there. Very good news, indeed! Amanda is a great speaker and a true authority on the F# programming language. She's co-authoring a book with Ted Neward right now. She's Kind of a Big Deal as we often say about her.

- Thursday, July 31, 2008 - Page Brooks, MCSD and Senior Software Developer for ACS Technologies will be showing us some of his latest techniques for skinning and templating Silverlight user controls. Page is an active member of the .NET community and is a co-founder of the Pee Dee Area .NET User Group in Florence, SC.
- Wednesday, July 30, 2008 - Susan Lennon, MCITP, MCTS, MCAD, MCSD.NET, MCDBA, MCSE+I, MCT (Phew!) didn't think she could make it this year. But she found a way! Susan is THE go-to person in the mid-Atlantic for hardcore Sharepoint development. She's cutting edge and pragmatic at the same time. Susan is the President and CEO of Lennon Technologies in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Wednesday July 30, 2008 - Our beloved Andy Leonard, SQL Server MVP is moving to Atlanta soon. But he told us today that he wouldn't miss the October 2008 Richmond Code Camp for anything. Everyone who's ever heard Andy speak knows that his presentations are not to be missed. They're chocked full of wisdom, humor and wit. Andy's simply one of the best presenters you will ever watch. - Wednesday, July 30, 2008 - Brian Hitney, Microsoft's Developer Evangelist for the Carolinas will be joining us to go in depth on ASP.NET MVC. G. Andrew Duthie, our own Developer Evangelist, a.k.a. the DEvHammer will be on hand, too. Maybe we could get them to sing a duet.
Brian is the creator of the World Maps for tracking website traffic that you're all familiar with like the one on my own blog.

- Monday, July 21 2008 - The deal is done! We have secured access to the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College campus for our next Code Camp. I just got a call and received the news that the Dean of the College signed the paperwork. We'll have a modern auditorium that seats up to 400 people, access to six new state-of-the-art classrooms and a comfy speaker's lounge. There's free WiFi networking for attendees and plenty of good parking. As the college continues to grow it's Microsoft IT Academy program, we are excited to join with them and support their committment to the great Microsoft technologies that make many of our careers rich and rewarding.
- Thursday, July 17, 2008 - Matt Podwysocki will be speaking at Richmond Code Camp 2008.2. Matt is an expert in Test/Behavior/Domain-Driven Development. He leads the Washington, DC ALT.NET User Group and is a go-to guy at Microsoft concerning functional programming with languages like F# and Haskell.
